Workshop FAQ
What experience is required to participate in a workshop?
None! These workshops are designed for people learning glass for the first time. Great for beginners and people wanting to dip their toes into the world of glass.
Is this dangerous? What hazards should I know about before booking this class?
In glass fusing workshops, you'll be using tools to score and cut sheet glass which means you'll be exposed to sharp glass edges and some errant shards. You will be provided safety glasses, gloves, and there are bandaids on site. However, your instructor will go over safe practices at the start of each workshop to minimize potential cuts and abrasions.
What are the age requirements for your workshops?
Participants between the ages 13 and 18 must attend a workshop with a participating parent or guardian. Both minor and adult must have purchased tickets to the workshop.
What do I wear?
The only requirement for our workshops are that you wear fully closed shoes! Socks do not count as "fully closed" feet protection!
Can I bring my own food and drink?
As each workshop location is different, we encourage you to reach out to the location host directly.Â
What is the Release and Waiver of Liability Form?
Before starting our workshop, you will be asked to sign and submit this form in order to participate.Â
If I do have previous experience in glass, can I use the workshop to make something different?
Nope! All materials are prepared ahead of time for the pre-designed workshop.Â
Are your workshops accessible?
Each workshop location varies, so you may want to contact the location host directly to ensure accessibility. In each workshop, students will be using hand tools requiring dexterity and pressure. If you have any questions, you can contact us at taktakgoods@gmail.com.
How are these workshops structured?
In the first hour, we cover safe practices, materials, and tools along with a short glass cutting demo. Students will be provided glass to practice cutting on their own before starting their projects. The remaining time (2hrs) is for students brainstorm and sketch, select their template, cut and assemble their design, and finalize their pieces with small embellishments.Â
I'm running late, can I still join the workshop?
Students arriving more than 15minutes after the start time will not be permitted into the workshop. This is disruptive to the instructor and the other students. Please arrive at the listed start time of the workshop or even 5 mins earlier. No refunds will be issued, but we will make your glass piece for you in lieu of your participation.Â
I can't make it to the workshop, what is your cancellation and refund policy?
You are only entitled to a refund if you cancel your participation via email within 72hrs of the class start time. A 5% administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds.
I've had an unexpected emergency on the day of the workshop and cannot attend, what are my options?
- Send someone in your place!Â
- Please email us if you cannot attend and we can offer to make the workshop piece for you, the same pick-up or delivery options will apply (outlined below).Â
In the event of a workshop cancellation by Studio Tak Tak, all participants will receive full refunds, will be notified if the class is rescheduled to another date, and given priority for booking.
When will finished pieces be ready for pick-up and where?
Final works will be ready for pick-up in 2-3 weeks after the workshop. Students will be notified when their pieces are ready and can be pick-up at the location of the workshop OR can be shipped directly to them for an additional fee.Â
